Marae, (ex Paraiso), 108' Pilothouse Sloop, "Best Sailing Yacht 23-36M", International Superyacht Design Award, 2004
“Marae” is a signature Fontaine design, an evolution of the proprietary Delta Form hull that Ted Fontaine developed in collaboration with Ted Hood over the past twenty years. Refined in the testing tank, her low wetted surface, high volume hull with a board down draft of 18’9”, coupled with a tall carbon sloop rig makes her an efficient and powerful world cruiser. With the centerboard up she draws only 7’1”, allowing access to her shallow-water home grounds of the east coast of Florida and the Bahamas, as well as secluded anchorages worldwide.
The large interior volume created by her hull form has allowed Fontaine Design Group to create a luxurious interior that meets the owner’s dual need for both comfortable family cruising and corporate entertaining. “Marae” is detailed in raised panel walnut and features several living and entertaining areas. A semi-enclosed pilothouse includes a relaxed dining and living space as well as a full navigation station. Below, a large deck salon incorporates a full bar and raised seating with excellent views out of the large windows. For entertaining, the main salon with its formal dining area and deep, comfortable couches combines traditional club-style aesthetics with modern amenities such as climate control and a disappearing entertainment system. Owner’s accommodations aft include a spacious guest suite with double bed, a “children’s cabin” with twin beds and a Pullman and the master suite, which is luxuriously appointed with a walk-in closet, exercise equipment and spacious bathroom.
