Sarah Jane

Sarah Jane, 65' Pilothouse Sloop

SARAH JANE is a collaboration of Dana Robes Boat Building and Lyman Morse Boat Building that reflects a desire for long distance cruising amid luxurious surroundings. Having returned from a six year circumnavigation aboard their Little Harbor 48’, the owners now move into a new era with this larger purpose built yacht.

The hull configuration of SARAH JANE is the evolution of the highly successful Delta Form hull, developed by Ted Fontaine and Ted Hood. This design optimizes stability by creating long, deep lines with U-shaped fore and aft sections. The high lift hull combines low wetted surface with a high interior volume to provide fast passages with comfortable accommodations while allowing for entrance into shallow anchorages.

The design of this magnificent yacht calls for a unique interior layout. A large enclosed pilothouse combines a full navigation station with unobstructed visibility and a relaxing lounge area. A beautifully crafted mahogany table with stained walnut inlay reflects this functional ambiance. Below decks, the spacious accommodations are cleverly separated by the Galley and Salon. Rich warm raised panel mahogany throughout provides a serene refugee from the elements. Aft there are two staterooms each with two berths, providing for the crew and guests. A galley nook ingeniously optimizes a full service area with ample storage and appliances in a wrap around counter to create an open atmosphere. Fine joinery and soft décor combine in the roomy entertainment area. The owner’s stateroom is forward with two berths, private head and shower, separate study and ample closet space.

Having satisfied the owners interior desires, Fontaine Design Group put a priority on proper space for housing and servicing the 210 HP Cummins main engine, 16 kW Northern Lights generator, as well as all pumps, hydraulic, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems. Included is a dedicated area for the washer/dryer, crew head and work bench. This large engine room provides easy access to all systems and is accessed through the crew cabin, cockpit hatches and guest cabin.

SARAH JANE was designed and built in compliance for the code of practice as outlined by ABS. The systems were designed in accordance with the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) standards.
