Design 1109, 95' Sloop
Design 1109 is a development of the two successful Fontaine Design Group build projects, the 90’ CABOCHON and 92’ FIRSTLIGHT. Design 1109 was conceived as a “mini super yacht”, responding to the owner’s mandate to design the smallest boat to practically carry three aft guest cabins, private crew cabins and galley forward for long distance ocean cruising.
The yacht is a refinement of the two previous designs with subtle improvements made by adding length to the design in three strategic areas; the added aft owner’s cockpit, the lengthening of the pilothouse and adding length to the galley and crew quarters.
The design features components found on yachts in excess of 100’, the design is a reflection of the owner’s concept that “boats only get bigger for the crew and for bigger dinghies, I want a boat big enough for me and my family but small enough to just keep a full time crew comfortable”.
The yacht represents one owner’s idea of a sensible ocean going cruising yacht should be and nothing more.
